09:55 - Father and son

Father and son, originally uploaded by L.B.

Alex is walking everywhere now...and doesn't like standing still as a rule. Saying that, he does like to just sit with me sometimes, which is always appreciated.
Yesterday we went to the lake, where he did a good 150m of cross country walking. He is getting the hang of it so quickly.

20:35 - Finally got my home entertainent system sorted

Finally got my home entertainent system, originally uploaded by L.B.

Now Alex is walking quite happily he has gained access to previously unreachable places....such as the TV and home entertainment stack....

To fix this I finally got around to wall mounting the TV and hiding all of the components out of sight and reach. The trouble is that remote controls don't generally go through walls (apart from the PS3 Bluetooth remote).

To get around this I use a cool little gadget that uses a transmitter placed in the "All-in-one" remote controller to relay remote signals to a radio receiver that then resends the signal as infrared to the hidden away components. This way only the TV is actually visible....which is quite useful, as when you have this many wires it is great to have all round access to the various components without the hassle of reaching through Hi-Fi cabinets and units etc!

Due to the new position I have been able to put all of the speakers up in the 6.1 (plus Sub) system. It sounds really great. The reason we went for such a major set up is that cinema trips are not so viable anymore now that we have little Alex. We both like our movies, so a good home cinema was a good solution. It does mean we don't get to see the movies until they are released on Blu-Ray or DVD, but we can wait - not like those Harry Potter nutters who wait outside of cinemas to see what happens next to the over-hyped wizard.

Pebbles, originally uploaded by L.B.

We took the wandering Alex to the lake today. There must have been 30 or so geese surrounding us for bread. Alex has started to throw bread to them...but when the geese are fed and happy he is quite happy to throw stones. Infact as long as there are stones on the shore, Alex doesn't want to go home!

15:57 - Sunday shopping

Sunday shopping, originally uploaded by L.B.

Paul Simon is a blind man. Yes...the oddly named curtain and blind shop takes the same name as the musician...Well I hope that's right, because if it isn't I must say the other half of Garfunkle has hit bad times! Anyway we bought some blinds for the bedrooms and some pesticides from B and Q. We have a few ants nests that needed thinning out.

13:38 - My sly office

My sly office, originally uploaded by L.B.

Well, surreptitiously acquired anyway. It was sat there, empty, just waiting to be occupied. What could I do?

Yup...I put a chair in it....then "hoisted" a table from another office whilst the guy is on holiday. "Borrowed" some shelves for my equipment...and now it seems to be mine.

Hurrah for piracy in the office! Shiver me printers! Arrr pieces of A4.

01:57 - On the road.

On the road., originally uploaded by L.B.

Such a high thrills life I lead! Travelling up and down the country in ever slower traffic. Soon the roads will be so congested that it'll be easier to pave over the jammed cars than clear them!

I heard some guy bragging about the big pick-up truck he drives...he said he didn't believe in global warming being a man made problem, and that it would happen anyway because "nature was doing it...." What a git. Talk about trying to shift blame. Even if it wasn't a man made problem (yeah...okay...) we should still do what we can to slow the process down. It's the idiots that say that they'll "be dead before it effects them" that really annoy me.

I guess you wouldn't have cared if your parents or grandparents had had the same attitude. "looks like Hitler is starting a war dear...never mind, let him...we won't be around in a few years anyway...so why should we care?". What about medicine? Some doctor inventor of some major drug just stopped developing it because...well..."I don't have the illness, so why bother...and if I did I'd be dead soon so...yeah, why bother?"

Oops...got a bit ranty there...I do apologise, but it is one of my pet hates.

Happy thoughts!
