Alex in his combats making sure the area is free from cats.
This blog is for my kid(s?). So if they want to, they can look back on what it was like "back then"...

Any cats out there?!
Alex loves looking out of the cat flap and shrieking "CAT" at the cats...and most other things! They are quite happy about it and don't mind Alex one bit.
This is the best thing about going to work...
...Alex and Chris at the door to greet me when I get home!
He is always so excited to see me. I always have a chat and a play with him before I do anything else. It makes my day when he smiles.
This little lad is a bit different to the normal little lad you are used to seeing on these pages....this time he's being published from Daddies new PS3.
There is a lot of talk on which is better...XBOX or PS....and I'm not going down that road. I will say that I am an engineer and I am very thorough before I buy or adopt new technology....and I have the PS3. Go figure. I'm not a brain dead XBOX or PS fan that supports their chosen console, I let the facts and figures do it for me.
So....why mention this on the sometimespace page? Simple.....When I was growing up thirty something years ago there were no video games. When I was about 6 or 7 my dad bought back a console from his travels. It was a black and white unit that had some hard to pronounce German name. It had 3 games...all using paddles to bounce a (square) ball backwards and forwards. the controller was a box with a wheel on it that just turned to make the onscreen bat go up and down. It was the best thing ever and well advanced for the time....
When Alex hits 30 years, what will he be using? I went from a pixel stick and ball to the photo-realistic world of HD games. That's one hell of a development. Even going back 10 years the games were good, but not brilliant - and we had no idea of how good they would shortly become.
Maybe he'll look back at this and compare it with his latest gadget and think how backwards we were in the early 2000's...
...and Gran has a swing in the house...(so guess who had to have a go?;-))
So far this last week Alex has perfected crawling and has progressed to pulling himself up onto his feet! I love that he crawls over to me, pulls himself up on my legs and then hugs me! He really is a wonderful lad. We love him to bits!
On Saturday Chris received a balloon and some flowers from Alex for her first mothers day. He had to give it to her early due to our visit to Gran today....but Chris never worries about getting presents early!
So Alex had a day crawling around, swing and playing his favorite game. His favorite game is when someone covers his head with a soft cloth, he likes to pull it off again...which progressed into anyone covering their face with a cloth and Alex crawls over to them and uncovers them. Who needs an XBOX or PS3?
Anyway, he eventually tired himself out. Lucky for him Grans chairs are very comfy...
Do you remember when everything you did was fun? Even the stuff we think is mundane now was once fun to us.
That has nothing to do with swinging though....that's ALWAYS fun, as Lil' Al shows here. He loves it, and we love taking him to the park.
He hasn't tried the slide yet...and wasn't too keen on the roundabout (accompanied!!!!), but the elephant rocker and see-saw were hits!
Alex makes everything so much better for us. When I get home from work I open the front door and there he is....he turns and gives me the biggest grin - without fail!
Little Al is loving his baths. Heck, he loves EVERYTHING!!!
Mostly though he loves splashing...although he normally does this once he's about-turned and pulled the plug out....
He now has a bundle of bath toys to try and keep him from pulling the plug in the first few seconds of getting in the bath...It's not that he doesn't like the bath...he just loves the gurgle of the plug hole!
Is it any wonder that he is so tired come the end of the day....?
Needless to say, there are more photos on the FLICKR pages (either click the photo or the strip of pictures at the top of this page).
Winter competition season draws to an end and I decided to try for an NSRA proficiency badge. I managed to mess up my last 3 shots out of 40 and missed out on "EXPERT MARKSMAN" by 3 points!
I scored 385/400 and it was down to those 3 bad shots that missed me getting the 389 that would have got me the "expert" rank.
Ah well, at least I have something to aim for. "Expert" and "Mastershot" are the last 2 grades above "A".
After stealing a rich tea biscuit from mum, we thought it was about time Alex tried rusks.
It was a slow process, but he was happy as he munched away with his drool assisted 2 teeth!
